ESL - Teaching English as a Second Language

Window to the World Curriculum

Many individuals who would not go to a church for a worship service or Bible study will seek ways to learn or improve their English. In the process of meeting this need to study English, teachers of English to speakers of other languages (TESOL), have a unique opportunity to develop relationships in which they may share the gospel.

This course lays foundation for understanding Who Jesus is. With its interactive approach, it builds a framework of cross-cultural understanding for students and teachers alike. And it opens doors through which Jesus Christ may enter the lives of the students. The essential teaching tool is the use of the "JESUS" film, first in the learners' native language, the language of the heart; then in English as it provides content for each lesson. Twelve parts of the "JESUS" film have been flagged in the English version for easy use by the teacher.

Hearsay Tutors Toolkit

Many languages have sounds that do not occur in English and English has some sounds which may be new to other nationalities.

It is vital to teach all the basic sounds of the English language to students. Without these basics, conversation is always difficult. The way these sounds are pronounced also determines a speaker’s accent. Correct pronunciation is necessary in order to be clearly understood and avoid communication problems. It is of no use majoring on grammar if pronunciation is not established first.

This Tutor’s Toolkit contains everything you need to confidently assess and teach pronunciation. Watch the Presenter & Mimic the Sounds. This training can be done individually, in small groups or using an interactive whiteboard in a classroom environment. The use of a Windows PC computer is required. (Desktop or Laptop)

The Hope ESL Software Curriculum

The growing demand for the English language world wide has created an incredible opportunity to communicate the Good News of Jesus Christ to an ever widening number of students. In much the same way as Koine Greek in the first century sped the spreading of the Gospel message, English has become an international bridging language for our day.

This CD-rom takes a primarily aural (listening/speaking) approach to learning English using beautiful images, audio, video, and flash driven content, based on The HOPE film, representing a dramatic presentation of God's redemptive story from creation through Jesus Christ.

This tool is appropriate for intermediate/advanced students working on their own, in pairs, in small groups, and large groups. English teachers might also use this resource as part of their instruction in the class room.

Yes, English has specific

Yes, English has specific sounds and that's an added issue the the different sounds from other languages. A lot of people learn English but have problems on pronunciation, that would explain why I have an accent reduction tutor, there are still things in my English that need to be improved. I never tried Gospel English before, do you think the learning would go easier if I am a religious person? People respond better to religious English teaching?
