Just as Paul used the Roman Roads and hand-written letters of his day to spread the gospel and disciple new believers, we can use the Internet Information Highway and email to do the same today. If you have an Internet connection at home, you can instantly communicate with seekers and new believers around the world. Our Internet Response Centre, a webmail system similar to Hotmail or Yahoo, will connect you with people coming to our evangelistic websites and who desire to grow spiritually and to connect with a mature believer. The Response Centre facilitates creating new relationships via e-mail and helps you to respond appropriately as well as protects your identity. Through these relationships you will be able to influence (mentor) the spiritual life of these online contacts. From the comfort of your own home and at your own convenience, you can be a missionary to people around the world.
What is an eMentor?
Goal: To show compassion and empathy by our words of concern and acknowledgement of their situation.
Role: eMentors are not professional counselors, but rather spiritual guides who point them to helpful resources, share the Gospel with seekers or guide a new believer in their spiritual growth.
Guidelines for E-Mentors
- Must be a Christian for at least 2-3 years and be spiritually as well as emotionally mature.
- Be willing to check emails regularly, and spend about 5-15 mins to respond to mails.
- Must be in agreement with the content of our major sites (http://www.godlovestheworld.com/ and http://www.keystochristiangrowth.com/).
- Able to read and type one of the languages below (Arabic, Chinese, English, French or Indonesian).
- Easy-to-use templates assist you in the initial responses.
- A on-line training manual will help you learn the technical details of using the Response Center.
- You will be part of a team - so you can ask for help with difficult questions.
- You will receive ongoing training from your team leader -- and you can call or email him when you have questions.
